Dollie F. Whitcher, 94 of Topeka passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 at a local hospital .
Dollie was born on January 24, 1913 in Melvern, Kansas to Sherman Whitcher and Nellie (Claypool) Whitcher and was the youngest of eleven children.
Dollie graduated from Ottawa High School and Clarks Business School. She worked for 35 years as a Claims Investigator for Santa Fe Railroad.
Dollie spent many of her weekends returning to the family farm visiting her family and helping with whatever needed doing.
Dollie is survived by nieces, Jessie Jackson, Quenemo, KS and Linda Hatala, Huntington Beach, CA; nephews, Boyd Whitcher, Jr. and Everett Whitcher; several great nieces and nephews and Jane Robertson, a very dear friend and long time caregiver. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Dollie will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held Friday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Kansas
