Dillion "Dean" Cunningham, Jr., 66, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013.
He was born February 21, 1947 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Dillion Dean and Mary Faye (Corwin) Cunningham, Sr. He graduated from Kearney High School, San Diego, CA and received his Bachelors and Master's Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. He served in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Cunningham was owner/operator of Dean's Automotive Service, Independence, KS. He later became a computer teacher for Independence High School and an Adjunct Professor at Independence Community College, Independence, KS., retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Arab Shrine and Siloam Masonic Lodge No. 225 A.F. & A.M.
Dean married Sherryl "Sherry" Shue on May 31, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Fredonia, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Julie (Ron) Baker, Topeka; a son, Doug (Simone) Cunningham, Toronto, Canada; three grandchildren, Jack and Max Baker and Sara Cunningham; and a brother, Howard Cunningham, San Diego, CA.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka.
