Dessie L. Allen, 92, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005.
She was born January 26, 1913 in Birch Tree, MO., the daughter of Amos and Jessie Brake Smotherman.
She married Sam M. Allen on September 23, 1934 in Eminence, MO. He preceded her in death in January of 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Sammie D. Allen.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Shavey, of Berryton, KS; a son, Donald R. Allen, of Topeka; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; three sisters, Lola Rosenbaum, Birch Tree, MO., Wilma Miller and Edith Asplin, Mountain View, MO; 1 brother, Herschel Smotherman, Birch Tree, MO.
Mrs. Allen will lie in state after 3:00 pm., Tuesday May 31 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery
