Dennis "Birdog" Sheridan Lamberd, 82, passed on May 21st, in Topeka, KS. He was born August 1, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO to Orval and Mary (Coyle) Lamberd. He spent most of his youth in Hays, KS, graduating from Hays High School in 1958. He maintained close relationships with his friends from high school throughout his life. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962. He met the love of his life, Arle Ann Bryant, in 1974 at a Parents Without Partners meeting. They wed soon after and raised their 5 children together. Words like "step" and "half" were not allowed in the home when referring to the relationships of their children. Dennis retired from Goodyear.
It's hard to narrow down his passions. He loved aircraft and was Wing Commander of the Combat Air Museum in Topeka for many years. He also loved cars and owned many Pontiacs over the decades. He loved dogs and raised more than we can count. He loved hunting trips with friends. If he and his friend, Butch, could get together without burning anything down, Arle Ann was proud of him. They loved to travel to K-State Bowl Games with their longtime friends,. Dennis extended enthusiastic kindness to all he met. He was intentional in making others feel appreciated and comfortable when with him. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his sons Jim Willis (Anita ), Hutchinson, KS; Sean Lamberd, Statesboro, GA; Kevin Lamberd (Julie), Raytown, MO and daughters Sara McKissick, Matthews, NC; and Mary Jennings (Mike), Topeka, KS.
