Dennis Bane

Dennis J. Bane, 38, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008.

Dennis was born December 19, 1970 in Independence, KS, the son of Linda and Joe Berberick, and Jerry Bane. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1990.

He began his career as a Safety Officer for the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority and volunteered with the Mission Township Fire Department. He has been employed with the Topeka Police Department since June of 1994. He received numerous professional recognitions, including bars of commendation and a Medal of Merit award.

He was a devoted father and husband and his children were his pride and joy.

Dennis married Colleen Pendley on June 8, 1996. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Riley and Tyler; parents, Joe and Linda Berberick, Boise, ID, formerly of Topeka, Jerry Bane, Wichita Falls, TX; sister, Kristi Bane-Allen, Squamish, BC; step-brothers, Troy and Jeff Berberick, Topeka, Mike Berberick, San Diego, CA; and was an uncle to Kale, Keghan, Deven, Michelle, Kirsten, Kelsey, Abby and Will; mother and father-in-law, William and Joanne Pendley; and brother-in-laws, Sean and Mike Pendley. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Steven Bane and step-brother, Stephen Berberick.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Dennis will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
