Denise Susan Land Kaff, 57, of Overbrook, KS passed away, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at KU Medical Center from complications following a sudden stroke.
Denise was born March 1, 1955 in Topeka, KS the daughter of James R. and Marilyn G. (Miller) Land. Denise was a lifetime resident of Overbrook, Kansas. She was a graduate of Santa Fe Trail High School. She attended Emporia State University and in 1977 received her degree in Elementary Education from Washburn University.
Denise taught third grade at Berryton Elementary and retired in 2009 after 32 years of dedicated service.
She was an active lifetime member of Overbrook United Methodist Church. Denise was a volunteer at Camp Chippewa and had served on their Board of Directors. She also served on the Overbrook Library Board of Directors.
Denise was an active bowler. She competed extensively in the Women's Winter Leagues and National Tournaments.
Survivors include her husband Wayne of the home; her children, David Hunt (April), Daniel Hunt; her grandchildren, Ethan and Dylan Hunt; her siblings, Rick (Janet) and Mike (Sharon) Land and five nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Overbrook United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 p.m. Following the ceremony, cremation is planned with private inurnment at the Carbondale Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be given to Camp Chippewa, 2577 Idaho Road, Ottawa, KS 66067 or to the Overbrook Library Building Fund, Overbrook, KS.
