Delores Mae Silversmith, 86, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018.
She was born September 29, 1931, in Delia, Kansas, the daughter of Faye Paul and Lillie Zita (Behm) Swader.
Delores was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Silversmith was a life-time member of Southwestern Bell Pioneers.
Delores married John "Jack" Arthur Silversmith, Sr. on November 2, 1974 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Sandy Murray, Debbie (Murray) Ramirez and Pam (Marc) Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Gwen Wilcox; a step-daughter, Tanya Jo Silversmith; six grandchildren, Michael L. (Robin) Murray, John P. (Miranda) Murray, Jennifer Murray, Delores (Chris) Brown, Michelle Anderson, Marcy Anderson; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bernie (Luella) Swader, all of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Billy Murray, Mikey Murray and James Wilcox; a sister, Vera Wright; and a brother, Ora Swader.
Delores enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She loved camping, bowling and stock car races. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Oakland Raiders.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
Delores will lie in state after 3 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
