Delores Marie "Dotty" Mead died in Topeka surrounded by her family. She was 80.
Dotty was born on May 14th, 1939, near Bern, KS, to Julius and Emma (Bauman) Waterman. She graduated from Bern High School in 1957 and worked for the United States Air Force.
Dotty married Patrick Mead on June 29th, 1963, in Bern, Kansas. After Pat's retirement, they moved from Virginia back to Kansas, first to Netawaka and then Topeka. Dotty enjoyed bowling, walking, travelling, and watching football and KU basketball. She was a member of Netawaka United Methodist Church and a current member of Crestview United Methodist Church. She also loved to volunteer, recently volunteering for the Topeka Performing Arts Center and MOPS.
Dotty is survived by her children Brian (Launi) of Olympia, WA, Theresa (Rodney) Long of Deatsville, AL, and Michael of Topeka; grandson Brandon Beasley; step-grandchildren Jesse Kinney, Calvin Kinney, Matt (Ariel) Long, Justin (Miranda) Long, Jessica Long; step-great-grandchildren Wylin Kinney, Clay Long, Emory Long, and Cora Whitney; her brothers Wayne Waterman and John Waterman of Topeka and Dan Waterman of Jewell; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Pat.
Cremation is planned. Celebration of Life for Dotty will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2019 at Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Dr., Topeka, KS 66614.
