Della Romary
Della M. Romary, 99, of Topeka passed away on June 15, 2003 in Midland Hospice. She was born on June 28, 1903 in Wabaunsee, KS to Edmund and Louise Ebenhoh Leffler.
Mrs. Romary attended schools in Burlingame and Lyndon, KS and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1923.
In her professional career, she held secretarial positions with several Topeka businesses and agencies, retiring in 1968 from USD 501 after 14 years of total service in both the district office and finally as office secretary at Capper Jr. High School.
She married John Jacob (Jake) Romary on December 27, 1931 in Topeka. Mr. Romary preceded her in death on August 13, 1987. They were life long residents of Topeka. A sister, Doretha L. Samuels, died in 1989.
Survivors include two sons: Dr. J. Kirk Romary of Topeka, KS and Arlen L. Romary of California, MD; 7 grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren.
Mrs. Romary will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town, beginning, Wednesday June 18, 2003 at Noon. A prayer service will be said at 6:00 pm; the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 9:00 am, in Christ The King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mission Center Cemetery.
