Delbert Wells

Delbert E. Wells, 94, Topeka, passed away Wed., Dec. 24, 2008, at Brewster Place. He was born in Granola, KS on March 30, 1914, the son of Dr. Hugh E. and Viccie (Logsdon) Wells.

He graduated from Wichita East High School and attended Wichita University and Kansas State University. He was a registered Structural Engineer.

Delbert worked at Capital Iron Works in Topeka and served as President from 1959~1976. In his later years, he sold real estate for Kirk & Cobb.

Mr. Wells was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, Albert Pike Lodge #303, AF&AM of Wichita, Scottish Rite & Arab Temple.

He served on many Boards of Directors in Topeka and was a long time member of the Topeka Country Club.

Delbert was an accomplished musician, a pilot, an adventurous outdoorsman, animal lover and a wonderful friend to many. He played for the first semi pro ice hockey team in KS, in Wichita. He attended worship services through Brewster Place.

Survivors include sister, Maxine Corp of Wichita; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, his wife, Eloise M. Wells, a sister, Barbara Pendergast and brother, Floyd Wells.

Cremation has taken place. Private interment will take place at a later date in Glenn Cemetery, Nixa, MO. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sat. Jan. 10, 2009, at Brewster Place in the main building.
