Delbert "Wayne" Myers, 83, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at Midland Hospice House.
Wayne was born June 5, 1932 in Horton, the son of H. J. and Mable (Ambrosier) Myers. He graduated from Horton High School, the University of Kansas and received his Education Specialist degree from Emporia State University.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War earning a Purple Heart and Bronze and Silver Stars.
He taught, coached and was an administrator in numerous Kansas schools and retired from the Kansas and Montana Departments of Education.
He was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Orient Lodge #51 A.F.& A.M., K.N.E.A., N.E.A., Westside Christian Church and recently attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Wayne married Jean C. Davis on September 6, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Sue (Bruce) Givens, El Dorado, Barbara (Doug) Koelling, Topeka, DeAnn (Steve) Spade, Manhattan, Peggy (Steve) Snook, Topeka; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 9 brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
