Delbert G. Sinning, 77, Topeka, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born Dec. 6, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of George and Lydia Ruth Lay Sinning. He was raised in Franklin, NE and graduated from high school there. He came to Topeka in 1961.
Mr. Sinning worked for Cargill for 27 years before retiring on Jan. 1, 1990. He served in the US Army during WW2 and the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Capital Post #1 of the American Legion.
He married Edith Cornett on Feb. 3, 1951 at First Baptist Church in Parsons, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include his three children, Patricia Chilton and her husband, Kirby, Donald E. Sinning and his friend, Brenda McGinnis, Debra L. Butler and her husband, Craig, all of Topeka. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Kayce, Joshua, Allan, Jessica, Danielle, and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Ryan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Sinning will lie in state after noon Thursdy at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
