Delbert L. Wyant, 80, of Topeka, went to be with his loving wife on Monday, February 6, 2006. He was born on April 19, 1925 in Grenola, the son of Walter and Elizabeth Schul Wyant. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was employed as a carman for the Santa Fe Railroad in both Wichita and Topeka for 42 years before retiring. He moved to Topeka from Wichita with his family in 1968. He was a member of Rochester Community Church of the Brethren where he was an active member and volunteer. He was married to Nellie Marie Watkins on March 24, 1951. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2004. Survivors include one son, Roger L. Wyant and his wife, Marjorie of Topeka, one daughter, Debra J. Stiers and her husband, John of Topeka, five grandchildren, Dan, Mindy, Cody, Mallory and Brent. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Delbert will lie in state after noon on Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
