Davis Kirby

Davis G. Kirby, 66, of Topeka, passed away Sunday December 31, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.

He was born in Boone County, KY on August 8, 1940 the son of Kager and Maycel Kirby.

He married Glenda Todd of Oak Hill in 1961.

He attended Cloud County Community College, Washburn University, Wichita State University and the University of Nebraska.

He worked as a lineman for Clay County from 1962-1973, as a Drug and Alcoholism Counselor from 1973-1983, and was semi-retired from Topeka Metal.

He is survived by his wife Glenda, his son Greg and wife Linda and a daughter Kathy Kirby,three grand daughters, eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Some of the happiest years of Dave's life were spent in Clay County on the family farm. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting and fishing with his son Greg and spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephew.

Mr. Kirby will lie in state after 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Graveside services will be held at 11:30am Thursday at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Clay County, Kansas.
