David Wimer, 84, of Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
He was born May 14, 1934, in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Allen and Wanda (Goetze) Wimer.
He joined the Coyville, Kansas Christian Church when he was 10 years old. He was baptized as a young boy in the Verdigris River.
David graduated from Coyville High School in 1952.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960. He was proud to be a veteran.
David was employed by the TWA as an Aircraft Mechanic for 40 years, retiring in 1992 .
David married Betty Wimer on June 5, 1960 in Fredonia, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2019.
He enjoyed country and bluegrass music and traveling with Betty. He spent time working in the yard, tinkering in the garage, feeding the birds and time at the cabin.
Survivors include a daughters, Pamela Beth Essman and her husband, Rodney; JoRita Louise Moore and her husband Scott; grandchildren, Monica, Larnora, Eric, Joshua, Kim, Landon, Layton, Evan and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rita Ruth Trimmell, Peggy Louise Andert, JoAnn Nadine Wimer
A Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Caley Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas.
