David Lee Gooch, 72, Guthrie, OK. Died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.
He was born April 9, 1932 in Chanute, Kansas, son of Norman and Eva Gooch.
He spent his early life in the Madison, Kansas area. He graduated from Russell High School, in 1950, Russell, Kansas. He attended Sterling College two years before joining the Air Force.
While in the service he was stationed in California, Mississippi, Pusan, South Korea; Seoul, South Korea and South Carolina.
He was married to Marilyn Hodgson December 29, 1952. They were divorced in 1957.
He worked for IBM for 34 years before retiring in 1991. He worked with the Boy Scouts for 20 years in various positions. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Topeka, Kansas.
He was married to Ethel Watson, August 29, 1959 . She passed away January 2, 2000.
He re-married Marilyn Hodgson Roach August 11, 2001. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister Velma Gooch.
Other survivors include a daughter Lori Pheigaru, Topeka, Kansas; a son Philip Gooch, Jupiter, Florida; two grandsons Brady Gooch and Alex Pheigaru, three granddaughters Jami Gooch, Jennifer Pheigaru and Ashley Pheigaru. One step-daughter, two step-sons, six step-granddaughters, two step-grandsons and two step-great-grandsons.
Mr. Gooch will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Sunday March 20, 2005 at
Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Smith Memorial Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie, OK. With burial in Lawrie Cemetery Guthrie, OK.
