David E. Kirby, 63, of Topeka, passed away, Thursday, December 11, 2008.
He was born November 9, 1945 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of George E. and Josephine M. (Newman) Kirby. He enlisted in the United States Navy following high school.
He was employed by Menninger's and later for the city of Topeka, retiring in 2003. He attended Community Church in Topeka.
Survivors include his son, Benjamin David Kirby of Topeka; a step-daughter and a grandson.
Mr. Kirby will lie in state after 3 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Cremation will follow. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 7433 S.W. 29th. Memorial contributions may be made to The David Kirby Memorial Fund sent in care of the Capital City Bank, Topeka.
