David Barkley, 71, of Tecumseh, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home.
David was born on December 10, 1943, the son of Raymond and Vera (Cook) Barkley in Topeka. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School, class of 1961.
He was married to Jackie Newman on September 12, 1964 in Topeka.
David was a member of local plumbers union #165 and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. He was a life member of American Motorcycle Association, K.A.T.V.A., and Grace Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Barkley of Tecumseh; sons, Reggie (Carlene) Barkley of Topeka and Pat (Sherri) Barkley of Rockwall, TX; grandchildren, Lane (Ariel) Barkley of Norfolk, VA, Lance Barkley of Topeka and Gage and Tyson Barkley of Rockwall, TX; brothers, Ronald (Joanne) Barkley of Charlotte, NC and Paul Barkley of Topeka; sister, Beverly Hadden of Topeka; best friend, Bob Ives of Tecumseh; one soon to be great-grandchild, Kennedy Dawn Barkley and his furry best friend, B.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Kyle Hadden.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel; the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Private family inurnment will be in Lynn Creek Cemetery.
