David "Dave" Jarvis, 67, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023.
He was born August 28, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Jesse and Myrna (Carver) Jarvis. He went to Topeka High School. He later attended Kansas State University.
Dave was an ornery man and proud of it. Some would say that being ornery came with the Jarvis name! When he met you, he would give you a nickname. But you would need to keep in mind that the nickname would change just about every time you saw him. During the holidays he would play jokes with his sister Debbie, always asking if it was a different holiday other than the one it was supposed to be.
He loved being outdoors. Whether it was fishing with his daughter in her younger years or camping and jet skiing.
He enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in October 1978.
Dave worked at Chemlawn, now formally known as Evergreen. He then went on to work for the City of Topeka, Park and Recreation Department. While working for the City, he would maintain the ball diamond, help with lawn and plumbing work. He retired with the City in August 2012.
Dave married Meredith Conus on June 25, 2005 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters, Katie Jarvis and Albrey Jarvis; son, John Jarvis; sister, Debbie Gehrt and Dianna (Gerald) Keehn; brother, Doug (Laverne) Jarvis; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Jarvis and Charlie his best dog buddy who would always follow him wherever he went.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue. Graveside Services with military honors will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
