Darrell W. Edwards, 72, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born April 11, 1950, in Oklahoma, the son of Don Edwards and Augustine Hale. Darrell attended a carpentry program at the Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.
Darrell served in the United States Army from 1970-1992. While serving in the service, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor. Due to his injuries, he spent most of his later life disabled and living in long term care facilities. He will be missed by the staff and residents at Brighton Place West and the Topeka VA Hospital.
He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribe in Kansas.
Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Augustine Marie Hale and one brother, Kirk Allen.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 18, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66606.
