Darrell D. Steele, 71, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home. He was born November 14, 1942 in Nemaha County, KS, the son of Ralph and Mildred Beck Steele.
Darrell graduated from Goff High School. He was an Air Force Veteran. He was employed as an Engineer Technician for the Kansas Department of Transportation before retiring in 2002.
Darrell married Shirley Feldkamp on February 17, 1968 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Carol (Matthew) Klusener and Cindy (Chad) Armbruster, seven grandchildren, Bryant, Nicole and Brandon Klusener, Justin, Brooklyn, Ethan and Jordan Armbruster, one brother, LeRoy Steele and one sister, Marcia Hunt.
Darrell was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Natalie Klusener in 2002.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Darrell will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or Nemaha County Veterans Memorial Wall, Attn. Ray Rottinghaus, 1157 US Hwy 36, Seneca, KS 66538.
