Darrel "Tubby" Hunt

Darrel "Tubby" Hunt, 78, Topeka, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015.
He was born March 3, 1937, in Waverly, Kansas, the son of Vance and Lulu (Hess) Hunt. He graduated from Highland Park High School.
Darrel was a union glazier, retiring after 53 years. He was a member of the local glazier's union. He and his wife were one of five couples who established the Highland Park Girls Softball Association.
Darrel married Jean Swanson on October 9, 1960 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2010. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his children, Lori Hollar, Carbondale; Jeff (Paula) Hunt, Topeka; Lana (Giles) Lowry, Topeka and Lisa (Craig) Heersink, Tecumseh; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Friday, June 12, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
