Darlene L. Woolbright

Darlene L. Woolbright, 86, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019.

She was born December 29, 1932, in Osakis, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Stella (Sammons) George. She received a High School Diploma from Bucklin High School in 1951.

She was a known traveler. Since 1999 her and Bill have been on almost 90 trips total. Her favorite place to visit was Branson, MO. She was an avid reader and a passionate artist; creating art by oil, watercolors and charcoal. She loved to play the piano and organ and had a love for all things Eagle's.

She was very active with Lakeview Church of the Nazarene. She served as the secretary for 10 years and taught evening bible studies. She worked as a secretary for Payless Shoe Source and Jostens American Yearbook. She was very active with Gideons International; serving on all local offices as well as two terms on the State Cabinet. Darlene and Bill were involved with Christian Friends to Inmates, a prison ministry with other members for over 20 years. They also served in the Shawnee County Jail bible studies. Darlene and Bill were also active in the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Darlene married William "Bill" Woolbright on July 17, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Kansas, he survives. Other survivors include sons, Terry Woolbright and Timothy (Laurie) Woolbright; brother, Robert Harsh; grandchildren, Tricia Woolbright, Alben Stilley, Tanya (Jim) Leuty and Matthew (Holly) Busey; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Rex George and step-brother, Eston George

A Funeral Ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to service time.
