Darlene J. Orr, 82, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
She was born January 8, 1931 in Twin Mound, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Scheer) Montfoort.
She was employed by Jostens Yearbook in Topeka, retiring after 10 years of service.
Darlene married Herbert L. Orr on April 9, 1949 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death in November 12, 2009. Survivors include her children, Herbert Orr, Jr., Globe, KS, Dan (Debbie) Orr, Dennis (Vickie) Orr, all of Topeka; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James H. Montfoort, Topeka. She was preceded in death by her son, Rick William Orr, and two sisters.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
