Danny Lee Shaughnessy

Danny Lee Shaughnessy, 73, of Topeka, passed away on May 13, 2024. He was surrounded by family at his daughter's home in Tecumseh, Kansas.
He was born on May 28, 1950, in Parsons, Kansas. After graduating from Parsons High School, he joined the Navy in 1968. He was married to Terri (Fultz) Picolet for 22 years, and they had four children. Danny later married Judy (Rignell) Shaughnessy, who preceded him in death in 2013. He formed a special bond with his grandson, Justin Kleiner, whom he and Judy raised together.
After Danny’s career in the US Navy, he worked as a psych aid for multiple hospitals. He eventually retired from KNI to enjoy farming full-time. Danny was a lifelong hobbyist, cultivating many interests over the years, but his affection for the outdoors, fishing, and camping remained constant.
He is survived by his children; Tara (Larry) Albright, Sean Shaughnessy and Cole (Sara) Shaughnessy; step-children Patty Baldwin (Jeremy Tull), JerriJo Leonard (Jim Bass) and Tommy Kleiner; his 14 grandchildren and his brother Robert Shaughnessy Jr.
Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents, Robert and Delores (Wolverton) Shaughnessy; daughter, Leanne Shaughnessy, stepson Teddy Kleiner; grandchild, Jessica McCall; and his sister, Dee Shaughnessy-Chapman.
Memorial service 1:00 pm Thursday, May 23 2024, Penwell-Gabel Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave Topeka, Kansas 66604.
Graveside services Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1:00pm at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 21039 Ness Rd, Parsons, KS 67357.
