Dana N. Holstrom, 85, Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008.
Dana was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Topeka, the son of Arthur and Emma Holstrom.
He was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.
Dana married Irene T. Mizynski in Racine, WI, Aug. 1945. They were married for 63 years.
Mr. Holstrom served in the U.S. Navy from April 20, 1943 - Feb. 20, 1946, as Specialist (Physical Training Instructor) First Class. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II.
Dana was a Supervisor of Freight Accounts for Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; Topeka Moose Lodge #555 and American Legion Post #400.
Mr. Holstrom is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons: Jerry and his wife, Michele of Rockwall, TX; and Michael Holstrom of Topeka; brother: Norris and wife, Parthene Holstrom of Richardson, TX; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy and Ivan Holstrom.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thurs., July 17, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy. Mr. Holstrom will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Wed., July 16, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
