Dan M. Steele, 59, of Osage City, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, September 20, 2012, at a Topeka hospital.
Dan was a graduate of Washburn Rural High School and had attended Independence Junior College. He was an athlete, gymnast, and weight lifter. He played football and baseball as well as loved to fish and hunt. He loved animals and was always accompanied by his dogs. Dan was known by his family and friends as being one to always have a good time and always had a smile on his face.
He worked in the construction industry for many years. He was also involved in the construction of Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant and Bay City Nuclear Power Plant, TX.
Dan is survived by his wife, Janice (Frey) Steele. Other survivors include his mother Sarah Steele, Topeka; his father, Charles (Kathy) Steele, Topeka; his children, Amber (Shawn) Perry, Neodesha, KS; Kevan (Shala) Steele, Fredonia, KS; a step son, Jeff Ward, Fredonia, KS; his sisters, Deb (Walt) McFarland, Topeka, Cindy (Jerry Jones) Martin, Topeka; his brothers, Bryan (Cyndi) Steele, Watauga, TX, Robert (Tiffany) Steele, Topeka; his grandchildren, Ciera, Wyatt and Calle Perry and Dillon and Kinley Steele, a step grandchild Taron Ward; as well as 5 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. At Dan's request casual clothing are preferred for an outdoor gathering following the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to any charity or church on Dan's behalf.
