Dale Roy Richardson, 90, of Topeka, passed away Monday, July 31 at a Topeka care facility.
He was born June 24, 1916 in Gridley, KS, the son of Roy and Edith Faulkner Richardson.
He was a retired Navy Commander who flew airships (blimps) until they were decommissioned in 1962. His last duty station was as the commanding officer of the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Training Center in Topeka. After his Naval retirement, he worked for the Kansas Civil Defense, the Kansas Supreme Court and was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church.
He married Dorothy Osborn on April 30, 1943 in Tillamook, Oregon. She survives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Loren "Bud" Richardson; a sister, Doris and a grandson, Jacob Richardson.
Other survivors include three sons, Dr. Gerald (Sandra) of Lake Winnebago, MO., James (Anita) of Auburn and David (Mary Lou) of Overland Park; a daughter, Nancy (Dr. Mark) Daniels of Lee's Summit, MO; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Mr. Richardson was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 4 at Crestview United Methodist Church. A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:30 pm that afternoon at the Dover Cemetery.
