Dale L. Seward

November 13, 2012 — March 12, 1927

Dale L. Seward, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. He was the son of Guy and Blanche (Rees) Seward and was born on March 12, 1927 in Osceola, Nebraska. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School and joined the Navy in March, 1945 and was honorably discharged in August, 1946. He married Geneva (Little) Seward on October 27, 1946 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage this year.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1948, a member of the American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 and a member of the KAMO Camping Club. He retired in March, 1986 from Hallmark Cards after 39 years of employment as the Manager of Building and Machinery Maintenance. They always enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and did so more extensively after his retirement which included spending 22 winters in Mesa, AZ.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva and children, Roger (Vicki) Seward, Jan Brumm, and Pam (Geary) Marsolais, all of Topeka. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Seward, Springfield, Ohio, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dale was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed so much.

Mr. Seward was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Chapel Mausoleum where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608 or to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family.
