Dale A. "Alan" Johnston, 51, of Topeka, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at his home in the arms of his wife and two children.
Alan was born in Eskridge, August 4, 1954, the son of Ronald and Jennie Dudney Johnston. He grew up on a farm east of Eskridge and graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1972.
He worked for 28 years at General Tire of Topeka and was co-owner for the last several years. Alan was an avid golfer and enjoyed taking his children golfing from the age of two.
Alan married Mary Holloway on December 3, 1994 in Lake Tahoe, California. She survives. Also surviving at the home is a son, Hunter Johnston and a daughter, Jennie Johnston. Alan is also survived by his mother, Jennie Johnston, Eskridge; 3 brothers, Richard and Sheila Johnston, Eskridge, Bill Johnston, Topeka, Ron and Kim Johnston, Dover; 4 sisters, Helen and Don Kern, Rowlett, Texas, Karen Barber, Americus, Judy Johnston and Becky Johnston, both of Wichita. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews and a multitude of great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Johnston, and his sister, Diane DeForest.
Alan will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
