Dale R. Horton, 87, Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016.

He was born June 25, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Archie and Ruth (Foster) Horton. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1948. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Dale was employed with Fleming Foods, retiring after 47 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 17 and Scottish Rite.

On December 4, 1954, he married Carolee Barrett in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2015. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and a son, Randy.

Survivors include two sons: Gary Horton, Cleveland, MO and, Richard (Jean) Horton, Huntington, WV; one brother, Dean (Maxine) Horton, Topeka and three grandchildren: Brooke Nicole, Sarah and Steven Horton.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Interment with military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
