Dale Horn

Dale E. Horn, 77, Topeka, passed away Sat., Jan. 10, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1931 in Trenton, MO to Chester and Viva Conger Horn.

Mr. Horn graduated from Argentine High School, KC, KS in 1950 and the Salvation Army College for Officer Training where he was ordained as a minister in 1951. He was an active officer in the Salvation Army for over 40 years. Dale was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and also served as Governor for the Kiwanis District of Kansas in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

He is survived by: His wife, Shirley Powell Horn, of the home; Sons, Jeffery, KC, MO; and David, Topeka; Daughters, Susan (Scott) Ives, Topeka; Carol (Kevin) Bigham, Memphis, TN; Sister, Helen Falk, KC, KS; Niece, Juanita Robson, Coffeyville; Nephew, Randy Robson, Topeka; 12 grandchildren, Erin, Brian and Eric Horn; Heather and Brandon Ives; Nathan, Nicole, Sarah and Josiah Horn; Kyle, Alicia and Jamie Bigham; and many close friends.

Dale will lie in state Tues. Jan. 13, 2009 beginning 2:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wed. Jan. 14th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 599 Topeka, KS 66601.
