Dale W. Hoopes, 81, of Topeka, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away, Friday, December 2, 2005 at Stormont-Vail hospital.
He was born December 31, 1923 in Lucas, Kansas the son of James and Daisy Hoopes.
He was a veteran of World War II with distinguished service in the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Enterprise.
Mr. Hoopes retired from the Topeka Housing Authority where he held the position of general foreman.
He was married to Doris N. Heady August 23, 1975. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Jodi Buchanan, and Connie (Rob) Mundt both of Lansing, KS; Tonya Bosworth (Matt), Pacific Grove, CA; Kelli (Steve) Frueh, Lexington, KY; two step children, Rick (Donna) Heady, Kansas City, MO; Marsha Bianco, Oxnard, Ca; his brother, Harold Hoopes, GA; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Darla Chambers.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
