Dale Dean Brey, 91, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born February 5, 1931, in Ozawkie, Kansas, the son of Jacob and Zelma (Lowe) Brey. He graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1949. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Dale married the love of his life Dorothy Reece on September 11, 1959 in Kansas City, Kansas. They welcomed three children, Karen, Carol and Roger. He worked for Brey Motors and managed Napa Auto Parts in Sabetha, Kansas for over 40 years. After retirement, he and Dorothy moved to Topeka.
He had a passion for working on cars. Dale would often find old cars and restore them to sell. He also enjoyed traveling the United States and went on several cruises. He often went to garage and estate sales to find the best bargain. Dale was a daily reader of the Topeka Capital Journal. His favorite pride and joy was his grandchildren and he loved going to all of their activities.
Survivors include his children, Karen (Paul) Bodner, Carol (Rick) Hummel and Roger (Liz) Brey; grandchildren, Ruger Hummel, Nicole (Kurt) Hamilton, Nolan Brey and Jonathan Bodner; two brothers, Alfred Brey and Eldon Brey and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Brey; his parents and siblings, Ceona Michaelson, Charles Brey, Loreta Zwygart and Belva Fox.
A Funeral Ceremony will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. His family will greet relatives and friends starting at 11:30am.
