Cora L. Hobble, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at her residence. She was born on June 11, 1924 in Americus, the daughter of Rowland H. and Pearl Barrick Hobble. She graduated from Emporia High School. She resided in Topeka since 1951. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1945 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the National Federation of Telephone Workers, Communication Workers of America, assisted legislative lobbyists for the Kansas State Federation of Labor, trustee for the Kansas State Industrial Union Council. She served as secretary for the Kansas State CWA Council, as a member of the Workmans Compensation Study Committee, served on the Advisory Board of Social Work Examiner, served on the Employment Security Board, served on the governor's commission on the status of women and was appointed to the Kansas Committee for Humanities. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
