Conner Johnathan Hitchens, first-born son of Jared and Sarah Cochrane Hitchens, of Topeka, lived only a moment but touched so many lives. He passed from this mortal life into the eternal presence of Jesus on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Children's Mercy Hospital. He never knew loneliness and received unconditional love. Born on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at KU Medical Center, he would never know the overwhelming impact he would have on those he left behind. Within us all, there is a hole that only God can close. All we can do is offer our tears and, through the pain, be healed.
He is survived by his parents and grandparents, Steve and Diane Hitchens and Tom and Margaret Cochrane, his aunts and uncles, Andrew Cochrane, Nathan and Elizabeth Cochrane and Jenni Hitchens, as well as his cousins, Dylan and Jonah Cochrane.
Conner was preceded in death by great-grandparents, John C. and Cleda M. Hitchens, Charles E. and Margaret H. Miles, and Kenneth Gerrit Kipp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Brookwood Covenant Church. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Super Chief Credit Union in Conner's name.
