Col. (Ret) Hollis B. Logan, Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at age 94.
He was born June 9, 1922, in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of William Kenneth and Nell Fatima (Ford) Logan.
Hollis graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1940, Kansas State University in 1949 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Washburn University in 1951 where he received his Juris Doctor.
He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel, having served during peace time and the Vietnam War. In civilian life he was an attorney and later a pioneer in the cable television industry.
He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, Military Order of the World Wars, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 20th Air Force Association, Air Force Navigators Observers Association, 39th Bomb Group Association, National Association for Uniformed Service and Air Force Association. He was also involved with Jayhawk Council Boy Scouts of America where he served as district commissioner.
On September 26, 1943 he married Maxine (Price) Logan in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William C. Logan, daughter, Carol Sidney Logan, son, Kimberly Scott Logan and three grandsons, Nicholas Byron Logan, Christopher Tyler Logan and Zachary Ryan Logan.
He is survived by three children: Robert B. (Anne) Logan, Orange, CA; David B. (Netta) Logan, Topeka and Jane E. (Tom) Logan Cato, Anaheim, CA; four grandchildren: CEM Logan Akleman, Hollis Caroline Logan Cato, Bree Elizabeth Louise Jansen and Shana Christine Martony and four great-grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth-Louise Jansen, Mia Grace-Nichole Jansen, Zoe Michelle Martony and Logan Robert Martony.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
