Cody Lee Brown, infant son of Christopher Brown and Diana Flores, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014. Survivors include his parents, two sisters, Atsiry & Yoselynne Valtierra.
Our baby boy was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 at about 15 weeks gestation but even with such a terrible finding, Cody kept growing and with every movement we felt, made us love him so much more! Trisomy 13 occurs in about 1 in 16,000 newborns. Most cases of trisomy 13 result from having three copies of chromosome 13 in each cell in the body instead of the usual two copies. The extra genetic material disrupts the normal course of development, causing the characteristic features of trisomy 13.
A Funeral ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12,2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
