Clyde Carson

Clyde R. Carson, 86, passed away Monday, February 5, at a nursing facility in Rossville.
Clyde began his life in Iola, Kansas, as Asa Otto Hardesty on August 28, 1920, born to the parents of William L. and Carrie Bowling Hardesty. In his fourth year his father passed away and Asa and his siblings, John, Dorothy and Pearl went to the Atchison County Orphans Home to live. Asa was later adopted by Oral and Eva Carson of Monrovia, Kansas, and given the name Clyde Raymond Carson. Clyde graduated from Atchison County High School at Effingham where he loved to play the guitar and sing. In August 1947 he married Maxine Harrison. She preceded him in death in1999. He worked at Blish-Mize in Atchison, College Hill Tin Shop in Topeka, retiring from Latta-Whitlow in 1986. He is survived by three children, Kit David Carson (Sandi), Brentwood, CA; Donald Carson (Martha) of Olathe, and Jeanne Woodard (Danny) of Topeka; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carson will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening.
