Clifford "Kip" Howard Myers died March 15, 2016 at the age of 85 years old. He was born to Ross and Bertha Wax Myers on May 9, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas, the eighth of ten children. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy November 4, 1951. Kip served four years in the Navy stationed in San Diego, CA on Submarine Tender U.S.S. Nerius and on the island of Guam. Kip retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1992 after serving 25 years as a Certified Welder.
Kip was a member of the Arab Shrine Temple and was a member of the Clowns, the Legion of Honor and the Hospital Dads units. He was named Volunteer of the Year from Cappers Foundation in 2004 and Nobel of the Year from Arab Shrine in 2005.
Kip married Nancy Stockwell March 24, 1951 in Topeka and they raised three children, Bruce, Jane and Anne. They renewed their marriage vows after 50 years of happiness with their children, their spouses and grandchildren as their attendants in 2001.
Survivors include wife, Nancy, children Bruce (Kathleen) Myers, Topeka, KS, Jane (Rex) Eberly, Canal Winchester, OH, Anne (Larry) Heinrich, Berryton, KS, grandchildren Matthew (Ellen) Heinrich, Shelby (Kyle) Underhill, Michael Myers, Madison Myers and Emma Eberly and two great-grandchildren, one brother Merle (Tillie) Myers, Topeka and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Pearl Wells, Jack Myers, Wynona Wasser, Irene Nunn, Clare Vanover, Olive Lindsay, Beverly Carlin and Carl Dean.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Countryside United Methodist Church, Arab Shrine Travel Fund or Helping Hands Humane Society.
