Claude W. Mccune

Claude W. McCune, 92, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. He was born on October 19, 1916 in Alva, OK, to Isaac and Martha McCune. Claude was employed by Goodyear for 29 years before retiring in 1979. He then volunteered at Stormont-Vail Hospital for 22 years. He attended the Community Church. Claude loved to bowl and coached church softball for many years. He loved his family, friends and most of all loved God. Claude married Geneva McDaniels. She preceded him in death in 1979. He married Lavina Hattermer in 1980. She preceded him in death in 2000. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy McCune Smith and nine siblings. Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie S. Mitchell of Topeka, three step-sons, Tom Hattermer, Terry Hattermer and Ed Hattermer all of Oskaloosa and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Claude will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claude W.
