Clarence Junior "Cy" Sidesinger, 89, Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014. Cy was born January 8, 1925 in Abilene, the son of Clarence M. and Etta F. (Teel) Sidesinger.
He attended Colby High School and graduated from Abilene High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later graduated from Kansas City Mortuary School.
He worked as an embalmer and funeral director at funeral homes in Abilene, Wichita, Manhattan and Topeka.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Capital Post #1, Philip Billard VFW Post #1650, Topeka Lodge #17 A.F.& A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine Temple, and Downtown Topeka Optimist Club.
Clarence married Nelda K. Sellers on October 10, 1948 in Abilene. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Charlotte J. (Larry) Mitchell, Arcanum, OH, Scott C. (Traci) Sidesinger, Gladstone, MO, Tamara S. (Tom) Truex, Shawnee, KS, Chad M. (Anita) Sidesinger, Topeka; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Cy will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
