Clarence A. "Clete" Carpenter, 60, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on May 19, 1944 in Topeka, the son of Albert E. and Thelma Duvall Carpenter. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1962 and attended Washburn University. He was a director in Information Systems for the Santa Fe Railway where he retired in December of 1996. He married Nancy Brunker on June 14, 1968 in Topeka. She survives. Survivors include one son, Thad and his wife, Marlee of Topeka, one daughter, Jayme of Manhattan, one granddaughter, Paige, five brothers, Harry, Ed, Ken, Bob and Dave all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Claude in July of 1998. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Carpenter will lie in state after Noon on Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
