Clarajean O. Huss, 90, of Topeka, died on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. Clarajean was born on July 6, 1923 in Minot, North Dakota to Anton and Marie (Stewart) Olson.
She attended Minot State College for two years and later completed a course of study at the Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, ND, where she graduated as a registered nurse.
She was married to Paul E. Huss on June 7, 1947 in Minot, ND.
After raising her three young children, Clarajean worked locally as a nurse at Stormont-Vail Medical Center. She was a charter member of Chapter FJ of P.E.O., where she served in many capacities including past-Chapter President and past-president of the Topeka P.E.O. Cooperative Board. She was a longtime volunteer at Stormont-Vail Hospital, where she served many years on the Auxiliary Board, twice as president. She was a member of her neighborhood club, "The Thursday Club", for over 50 years.
Clarajean was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church; she served as a church elder and as a member of the choir.
She is survived by husband, Paul E. Huss of Brewster Place of Topeka, sons Gerry (Candy) Huss of Valley City, ND and Dave (Valerie) Huss of Topeka, daughter Christa (Kem) Sloop of Topeka, grandchildren: Jonathan, Christopher, Adam, and Kaitlyn Huss, Breton Sloop, and great-grandchildren: Keegan and Peyton Huss and Michael Huss-Reeves. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka. A private inurnment will take place at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will greet friends from 4:30-6:30p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
