Clara E. Dillon, formerly of Newton died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Homestead of Topeka at the age of 96. She was born on December 16, 1914 in Blackburn, OK to C. N. and Susie E. Kendrick Ogan and was one of eight children.
Clara graduated from Nelagony, OK high school in 1931 and moved to Tulsa where she met and married Wilburn Dillon on December 24, 1936. She was active in her husband's businesses and in raising a family, living in Oklahoma until moving to Newton in 1954. After the death of her husband in 1981 she moved to So. Padre Island, TX and remained there until 1999, when she moved to Houston, TX. In 2005, she moved to Topeka to be closer to her family. She spent the last several years at Thornton Place and Topeka Homestead.
She is survived by her two sons, Wilburn (Evelyn) Dillon, Jr., Topeka and Martin (Patricia) Dillon, Bullard, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a sister "Kee" Hight, Minneapolis, MN and a brother Joseph L. Ogan, Los Gatos, CA.
Clara was cremated and her remains will be inurned in Newton alongside her husband at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held from 12:30 to 3:00 pm Saturday, October 22 at Charley's Family Restaurant, 200 Manchester Lane, Newton (exit 31 off of I-35).
