Christopher Alan Wright, 54, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Stormont-VailHospital. He was born in Seneca, Kansas on April 11, 1953 the son of Bill and Diane "Daisy" Wright. He grew up in Topeka, attending Randolph grade school, Boswell Jr. High, and TopekaHigh School, graduating in 1971. He was awarded a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Kansas in Anthropology in 1976, and continued with post graduate work in archaeology. He served as a research assistant at the Museum of Anthropology at KU, and also as an archaeologist for Environmental Systems Analysis in Overland Park, Kansas. Chris had the privilege of participating in archeological field work in Eastern Europe, and he never lost his enthusiasm and love for this area of research. For the remainder of his career, he was very involved in the arts, serving 10 years as the executive director for Kaw Valley Arts and Humanities; president of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Kansas Street Blues Festival, a member of the Board of Directors for the Chameleon Theater, and numerous other arts related panels and committees.
Chris is survived by his parents, Bill and Daisy Wright of Topeka, Kansas, his siblings: Greg and Linda Wright of Tyler, Texas; Jamie and Deanna Wright of Topeka, Kansas; Nola Wright and Dick Coates of Topeka, Kansas; 5 nieces and nephews; two great nieces, and many friends. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
