Christopher David Birch, 49, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

He was born December 19, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William and Alice (Gerstenkorn) Birch. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1986, he then attended Independence Community College where he was part of the '87/'88 Jayhawk Conference Champion Football Team. In 1992, he earned his bachelor's degree from Emporia State University.

Chris spent many years working in the Association Management Industry and was the Executive Director for The Bath Enclosures Manufacturers Association. He was currently employed with the VA as a compliance officer.

Chris married Amy L. Hischke on April 30, 2005 in Topeka, Kansas. Survivors include Amy and their children, Elizabeth and Everett Birch; his mother, Alice; brother, Michael Birch; his in-laws, Ted and Sara Hischke; brother-in-law, Martin Hischke and nephew, Bodie Hischke and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Birch.

Chris was a member of Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation and Topeka Ski Club. Chris loved being a dad and was very active with his children and family.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to College America and mailed to Cordell Wealth Mgmt., 6342 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66615, to assist with Everett and Elizabeth's education fund.
