Chester "Chet" L. Chalfant, 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at his home.
Chet was born October 25, 1924 in Knob Noster, MO, the son of William and Myrtle (Thurston) Chalfant.
Chet retired after 40 years from Inter-State Studio as a Territory Manager. Throughout his time with company he was a Photographer and was in Sales Management.
He was a member of North Topeka Sunrise Optimist Club and enjoyed collecting antiques and was interested in all types of history.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Margaret "Peg" Chalfant, of Topeka; daughters, Dee Ann Baker and husband, Tim of Bonita Springs, FL and Rhonda Chalfant of Sedalia, MO; step-children, Jeff Miller of Denver, CO, Julie Miller, Karen Thornwall and husband, Donn and Jennifer Stucky and husband, Myron, all of Topeka; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Chalfant of St. Charles, MO, Marvin Chalfant and wife, Norma of Camden, IL and Earl Chalfant of Brookville, PA. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Chalfant, and three sisters, Doris Kendrick, Christina Chalfant, and Mary Caulk and three brothers, Dean Chalfant, Galen Chalfant, and Ray Chalfant.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS. He will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
