Charlotte Kieffer, 92, Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at her residence.
Charlotte was born August 27, 1916 in Soldier, the daughter of Ray and Sylva (Mack) Fiske. She graduated from Soldier Rural High School in 1934.
She taught school at English Ridge for one year. She moved to Topeka and worked for C. Edgar Harrington. She worked in an electric motor rewind facility in California during World War II, and later for Tecumseh Schools as a cook and a paraprofessional for USD-501.
She was a member of Tecumseh United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Beulah Chapter #34 O.E.S.
Charlotte married James A. Kieffer on February 26, 1940 in Topeka. He died June 5, 2002. Survivors include daughters, Paula (Bob) Inman, Berryton; Janice Kieffer, Tecumseh; son, Gale (Marion) Kieffer, Topeka; sisters, Mary Catherine McGregor, Bonner Springs, Shirley Longberg, Wichita; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Lucky.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Cremation will follow the service. Private family inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Charlotte will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
