Charlotte B. Peyton

DEATH NOTICE
Mrs. Charlotte B. Peyton Age 97, passed away on January 27, 2003
at Brewster Place Retirement Home where she had made her home since October 1979.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 27, 1905 and had lived in Topeka her entire life. Her parents were Edwin A. and Alice Fuller Beck of Topeka, Kansas.
She graduated from Topeka High School and later took several secretarial correspondence courses from the University of Kansas.
She was Secretary in the law offices of J. Glenn Logan and W. Glenn Hamilton. She also served as Secretary to J. Glenn Logan, State Senator.
She was employed by the Kansas Highway Commission (Now Department of Transportation) from 1937 until her retirement in 1970.
She was a life member of the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas; a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Topeka; Kansas Highway Retirees Group, where she served as secretary-treasurer for several years; Ladies Highway Retirees luncheon group; National American Association of Retired Persons and the Women's Republican Association, both local and national. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin
B. Peyton and Peggy Simecka Peyton of Topeka, Kansas, four Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren. A brother Vernon A. Beck of Elk Grove, ILL and a great grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, at 9:00AM January 31, 2003. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Peyton will lie in state from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM January 30, 2003. The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM that evening.
